Good Luck  Ceremony for the class XII batch 2015-16

A loving adieu was given to the outgoing batch of class XII in the form of “Blessing Ceremony”. A presentation prepared by class XI students rejuvenated their memories of the time spent together. The melodious musical medley by the choir brought tears in everybody’s eyes. In the emotionally charged atmosphere, students pledged to work hard to excel in Board Exams.

Teachers showered their blessings on the students and urged them to work hard with dedication and determination and grab the bright future that awaits them. The ceremony was followed by ''Hawan'' to invoke the blessings of Almighty for the excellent results in Board Examinations.

 "No Tuition Zone"- An Interactive Session with Parents

The School has taken a pledge to make itself as a “ No Tuition Zone”. To encourage independent learning, enhance self-study skill among our students and make the parents aware about the consequences of tuition, an interactive session with the parents, was organized on 12th Jan 2016 & 13th Jan 2016. Parents expressed the views and challenges they face with respect to their children’s academic progress. Constructive guidelines to make students responsible were shared among teachers and parents. The session helped the parents to comprehend and value their important role in the academic progress of their children. The parents appreciated the initiative taken by the school and assured their full support to make the efforts successful.

 Special Assembly – Christmas

A special assembly was organized 21st Dec’ 2015, to celebrate Christmas and to make students aware of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Students presented the important incidences from the life of Jesus Christ and shared the learning . The students filled the atmosphere with beautiful carols and Santa Claus towards the end brought joy and happiness on the faces of the students.


The students of the school participated and with mathematical learning in the activities of C.B.S.E , at GANIT week. For this purpose , the school has conducted following activities during the GANIT week.

 Master Chef Competition

With an aim to make students aware of healthy eating habits and help them know about various cuisines around the world, the Master Chef Competition was organized for classes Nur-KG on 18th Dec’ 2015. It honed their culinary skills and they learnt how to calculate nutritional value of their dish on their own. An array of creative approaches by the little kids of Nursery and KG was striking and the natural ability of various competitors was very impressive. The students also learnt the importance of cooking without littering.

 Special Assembly: Founders Day

To pay respect and homage to the efforts of our great founder father Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan, The founder’s day was celebrated on 5th Dec. 2015, with great zeal and enthusiasm. A special assembly was organized where the students of all the houses enchanted shlokas which filled the premises with positivity

 Parent Interface Programme (Nur-XII)

With an aim to strengthen the bond between the Parents and the School, the 2nd Interface Programmein Session 2015-16 was organized from 1st – 8th Dec. 2016 in which parents participated in teaching learning process. They presented the content through PowerPoint presentations, Motivational Talks, Inspirational Lectures. They also conducted activities with hands on experiences, acquainted the students with professional knowhow. The “Jogging path” constructed in ground was appreciated by parents while taking a walk through it.


Adventure camp was organized for students of classes Nursery to V on 28th November 2015, in the school grounds, with an aim to enhance all dimensions of emotional intelligence, physical strength and to help students become future leaders.
Students benefitted by interacting in groups and learning the skills of Team Management, Leadership, Co-operation and Empathy.
The ground appeared like an army base with the sports equipment arranged like Tunnel Crawling, Zip Line, Tug of War, Hipp Hop Race, Swinging Bridge, Rope Ladder Climbing, Zorbing, Commando net, Camp Games and Earth Ball.
The students were divided into 14 groups with one instructor and one teacher who motivated children to utilize their energy in the right spirit.
The activities aimed to foster student’s personal and social development through experiences evolving cooperation, trust, problem solving, decision making, goal setting, communication, leadership, responsibility and reflection.
The camp concluded with a magic show in which magician also invited students to take part.


The “Winter Carnival” was organized on 31st Dec. 2015. The celebration commenced early morning with students of classes IV – IX setting up their games table for inter class completion based on the best game. Games that were set up includes balloon shooting, hitting the dart, flip the coin, ball in a hole, periscope etc. The bouncy and Spiderman, the cartoon character, array of edible delights, dancing floor were the added attraction for the students. The live performance of magician Mr. Santosh Kumar followed by “Puppet show” captivated the attention of all the students. The entire event was coordinated by the students with the learning objective of Innovative ideas, creativity, interest created by attracting audience , team work and involvement of teachers to bid adieu to the passing year and welcome the new year.

 Celebrating Guru Parv (Nur & KG)

Imbibing the significance of Guru Parvamong students, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Ji was celebrated by the Tiny Tots of Montessori Classes with great passion and fervor on 24th Nov. 2015. Langar and Prasada were special attraction on this day.


To mark the birth anniversary of the Frist Prime Minister of Independent India Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, a special assembly was conducted by teachers. They gave a message by the great leader and presented through interactive session medley of songs and a dance highlighting the innocence of childhood. A teacher discussed important events occurred in the life of our beloved Chacha Nehru and his relentless effort for the freedom & growth of the nation.


An educational excursion to Parliament Museum, New Delhi was organised for the students of Classes VIII-X. Parliament Museum a beautiful blend of Knowledge with Technology depicts an interactive story on Democratic Heritage in India, spanning 2500 years of Indian History of Democracy. The visit gave an insightful learning to the students about freedom struggle and working Indian Parliament and its working. The students witnessed an audio-visual presentation of freedom struggle of India and its 2020 future plans. Rock edicts, miniature model of the Parliament, interactive shows, and display of democratic heritage, antique election procedures, Buddhist Council, Akbar and Ashoka’s rule, freedom movement, transfer of power and Unity in diversity were studied and comprehended by the students. Jawahar Lal Nehru’s speech on midnight of 14th–15th August 1947 was also showcased in his original voice in a set up which made the visit on children's day more meaningful.


Since the year 2000, November 12 is observed as “Jan Prasaran Diwas” (Public Service Broadcasting Day). To mark the anniversary of ‘Public Service Broadcasting Day’ three teachers along with eight students attended the celebrations, to commemorate the completion of 68 years of “Gandhiji's first broadcast on All India Radio which was addressed to more than two lakhs refugees from Pakistan in 1947”, at INDIA INTERNATIONAL CENTER and at BROADCASTING HOUSE. In the celebration, Gandhiji was remembered through his Bhajans (devotional song) presented by 'Vrind Gayan Group’ of Akashwani and choirs. A discussion on Public Service Broadcasting and Constitution of India – “Idea and Ideology” was also conducted in which academicians, social activists, media persons and broadcasting policy experts participated. Students were encouraged to participate in the programme so that they are exposed to the concepts and values of Public Service Broadcasting.


With an aim of cultivating the habit of public speaking and to prepare students to combat with the stage fear an English elocution competition was held in multipurpose hall for classes VI-VIII. Six students participated and expanded the different proverbs with logical thinking and real life examples. The competition enabled our students to speak with more clarity and finesse and it surely was an enjoyable experience for all who participated.


Sixteen students of the school witnessed Salwan Cup 2015 School Golf Championship at ITC Classic Golf Resort and Country Club Manesar, Haryana on 5th - 6th November, 2015. The competition was held in the benign presence of Hon'ble Chief Guest Mr. G.S. Sistani, Judge, Delhi High Court and Major Gen. Moni Chandi, IG (Training) NSG Manesar. The championship started with a golf shot by Chief Guests. 60 top amateur golfers representing renowned schools from all over the National Capital Region participated in the event and enthralled the spectators with their sporting techniques. The event made the students feel thrilled and eager to learn the sport.


SPIC MACAY, organised a live vocal recital performance by renowned Hindustani Vocal Virtuoso Shri Bholanath Mishra, which was attended by eight students and a music teacher at Seth Anandram Jaipuriya School Ghaziabad on 5th November, 2015. Shri Bholanath Mishra had an interactive session with the students in which he emphasized on the role of classical music in learning all types of music. He performed Thumri, Kajri and Raag Bhairav in Jhaptaal. The programme culminated with soulful rendition of the bhajan “Payoji Maine Ram Ratan Dhan Payo” sung by him.


With a view to promote interest and excellence in Mathematics Inter Salwan Math Competition was held on 17th October 2015 at SPS Rajender Nagar. The objective of conducting the competition is to provide opportunity to young and talented students to face challenging problems in mathematics. Ten students participated in the programme hosted in three different categories.

On the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 2015, Father of our Nation was remembered by students of Primary Classes. In a special assembly sights on the Gandhian philosophy by poems and the speeches were presented. This was followed by a prayer by the School Choir, in the form of an ode to the Father of our Nation. Students were encouraged to follow the path of truthfulness and non-violence in their life.

 Special Assembly - Hindi Diwas

Hindi Diwas Celebrations on 11th September, 2015 were marked by group of events held like Kavi Sammelan,an enactment , talk show and a speech highlighting the significance of Hindi in our lives. Through Kavi Sammelan, students made everyone spellbound with the soulful recitation of the poems of ''Veer Rasa'' and '' Hasya Rasa.''

 13th National Inter Districts Junior Athletics Meet – 2015

Astha Shree,an athlete from Class X B, had the proud privilege of participating in 13th National Inter Districts Junior Athletics Meet – 2015 held in Vishakhapatnam (AP) from September 5th - 7th, 2015.The championship was held in the graceful presence of Shri Chandra Babu Naidu, Hon'ble CM , Andhra Pradesh and Mrs. Anju Bobby George, IAFF World Championship Winner. 30 events were conducted in this mega sporting carnival in which 4000 participants from 300 districts across India.

 Teachers' Day Celebration

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the student council of the school organised a special assembly on September 4 th,2015. The performance by the students in 'Talent Hunt' included instrumental music by school orchestra, melodious compositions on teachers and a dance performance to honour all the teachers who had been instrumental in shaping up their lives.

The day was a special one for all the teaching faculty, with moments to cherish for times to come.

 Prime Minister's Interaction with Students

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in his live interaction with school children of the country on the occasion of Teachers’ Day Celebration on 4th September,2015 from Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi was witnessed by students of classes IX-XII in school auditorium. In a unique event anchored entirely by school children themselves, the Prime Minister released commemorative coins of denomination Rs. 125, and Rs. 10, to mark the birth anniversary of India’s second President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

In his opening remarks on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that there is a special significance of interacting with school children on the eve of Teachers’ Day. He said a teacher is known by the accomplishments of his students. He reiterated on the role of teachers to consider all students as important, and a good teacher will remember all – not just the ones who excelled academically. The students also shared their experience and learning in the morning assembly.

  Nandotsav........... Celestial birth of the savior of all

The Montessori and primary wing of the School celebrated Nandostav, the birthday of Lord Krishna, the ''Savior of All'' on 4th September 2015. Students while enacting the role of Krishna depicted the true learning of human values especially his friendship with Sudama.They mesmerized everyone with their scintillating dance show in a scene of Gokul Dham. Students enjoyed watching the movie ''Krishna aur Kans'' and were thrilled to see the celestial Birth at Mathura in the lap of Devki in a prison of Kansa and the adventures of little Krishna.


 International Geeta Chanting Competition

Seven students of the school participated in the 2nd International Geeta Gayan Competition held at Silver Bells School,Ghaziabad on 28th August,2015.The event was held to celebrate and commemorate the birth centenary of the great saint Chinmayananda. The objective of this competition was to motivate Children to chant the Geeta and ultimately bring this philosophy to transform their lives. 20 chants from Chapter XIV of Geeta ''Purushottama Yoga'' were selected for shloka recitation and students were judged on the basis of memory,pronunciation, presentation and overall effect.The students wholeheartedly put up a fabulous show and hence, they were awarded with certificates and consolation prizes at the Prize Distribution Function held on 30th August,2015.


  Celebrating Brotherhood

The Montessori students of the school celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Friday 28th August 2015 with an aim to strengthen the spirit of fraternity.Students prepared colourful brotherhood band by using paper folding technique and tied it on each other’s wrist with a promise to save them in future .They also tied the band of brotherhood to the trees and pledged to save environment and nurture the trees.

 National Sports Day Celebration........ a showbiz of sporting fever and National pride

The school celebrated National Sports Day on 28th August, 2015 in the honour of the great hockey wizard,''Major Dhyan Chand''. Young students from the school cheered jubilantly as the festivities kicked off with a resplendent performances of Yoga, Taekwondo and Gymnastics followed by Oath Taking Ceremony. Events 100m, 400 m, 4 x 100 m relay were held for students of the classes I-XII in the graceful presence of esteemed members of School Management Committee, Sh. Selak Ram, Pradhan (Loni Region) and Smt. Divya Tyagi, Parent Representative. On the occasion, an event ''Run for fitness'' was held in which around 100 cyclists covered distance of 5 Kilometres and displayed their vigour, focus, strength, skill and sportsmanship In her speech , the school Principal Mrs. Sonia A. Verma applauded the efforts of the students and motivated them to nurture in them the values and sporting spirit.The head girl of the school Shalu Tyagi,shared the confidence gained by her to reach to the position of Head Girl was due to her continued performance in Taekwondo and in her vote of thanks she expressed gratitude to all the present.


 Tech-Biz Competition

Five students of the school Animesh Mavi(XA),Rishabh Rawat(XA),Parth Maitrey(XB),Vashishth Shukla(XB) and Tapish Rawat(VIII B) participated in Tech Biz Competition Category B at DPS Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad on 22nd August 2015. The competition named as 'AD Bag Show' was based on the theme "naming and launching of products". The aim of the competition was to sharpen the skills of the students in using technology and to encourage them present their ideas effectively. The Product launched by the students was a “Gaming Console- Gladius”. They presented a slide show accompanied by a short skit and a video of the product.

 Inter Salwan Science Fest "Scientific Panorama", 2015

The students participated in Inter Salwan Science Fest “Scientific Panorama 2015” held on Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 at SPS, Gurgaon. An array of events and competitions were organized as a part of this fest. The objective was to usher the creative thinking skills, intellect of the children, expressions and scientific temperament. Various activities were held such as 'Kabad Se Jugaad' and Poster Making for the classes IV - V. The second group (VI-VIII) was: Buzzers (Quiz Competition) and Ignite your mind(Brainstorming activity). The third Group (IX-XII) gave Paper Presentation on the topic : Robotics in Surgery, Journey to Mars and Tech Fusion. The students in the category (IV-V) made the school proud by winning the second prize in Poster Making Competition. To develop scientific and observation skills among students, various scientific activities were also conducted such as separating chalk powder from sugar, magnet from tea leaves, golden rain and fire without matchstick, Display and uses of medicinal plants like dalchini, tulsi. Interesting games like water melon hunt, blow the ball, puzzles were also conducted for young scientists.

Independence Day Celebration

The school celebrated 69th Independence Day with a patriotic zeal and fervor. The event flagged off with the special assembly conducted by the students. To mark this glorious day, the students presented mélange of patriotic activities which created an atmosphere of national pride. The students displayed a kaleidoscopic fusion of music and dance which made the audience spellbound. The speech ''68 glorious years after Independence'' reiterated the contribution of visionary leaders in the progressive path of India. The assembly concluded with the motivating words of the School Director, Brig.Dr. A.K. Tyagi who cherished the values of freedom and patriotism and emphasised on the roles of youth in realizing the dreams of great leaders. The patriotic zest was vibrantly alive in more competitions held such as Kite Flying Competition(IX-XII), Poster Making Competition(VI-VIII) and Slogan Writing Competition(III-V).



Leaders Come Alive .... learning from the great transformers of India

An activity named Leaders Come Alive was organised on 11th Aug, 15 for the students of class III with an aim to inculcate the true spirit of nationalism and familiarize them with their contribution in the empowerment of the nation. Students enacted themselves as leaders from various fields and they learnt the significance of leadership and 'Service Before Self' in their life. Pratham Jain -III C dressed up as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, addressed that the firm determination and power of dreams help to achieve the goals. Kanishka -III B while playing the role of Kiran Bedi,the first IPS, made everyone understand that women can also contribute in tough professions. Shubha Shekhar Jha-III depicting valorous Rani of Jhansi emphasized on the significance of Indian Freedom Movement.

Discover India Week

A five day activity “Discover India Week” was conducted for the students of Classes Nursery and K.G from 10th-14th August,2015. The main objective of the activity was to acquaint the students with the rich legacy of India.The students experienced Creative Art Activities on National Symbols, a Role play resembling leaders and freedom fighters and a Quiz on the rich Cultural Heritage of India. This made students learn the skills of empathy,leadership, confidence, teamwork and a quest to strive for excellence.


The students of the classes IV and V enthusiastically performed in the Western Dance Competition organized on 10th Aug, 2015.Through the western dance forms like Ballet, Jazz & Hip-Hop,the students learnt the use of movement, gestures and expression. They enthralled the onlookers with captivating steps and creative props.The results are as under-

To imbibe in students a sense of responsibility towards environment and to educate them about the role and importance of trees in our life, a skit “Tree- My friend” was presented on Friday, 31st July, 2015 by the students of K.G in a form of musical performance.

Students enacted like beautiful trees that reflect the symbol of life on earth and natural home for many people and wild animals.


With an aim to strengthen the bond between the Parents and the School the Interface Programme was organised from 7th – 14th July 2015. 155 parents participated. The School appreciated the efforts put in by all the parents and their contribution in the form of PowerPoint presentations, Motivational Talks, Inspirational Lectures, and Career Counseling Sessions etc.



Twenty Eight students of the school participated in the exercise, on the occasion of First International Yoga Day declared by UN on Sunday 21st June' 2015. Students performed asanas at Rajpath along with the Prime Minister Shri. Narender Modi. The programme aim for the benefit of mankind, for a tension free world and to spread the message of harmony. Many believe that Yoga, an ancient physical, meditative & spiritual practice, is the best way to calm the mind and the best form of exercise for the body. According to Indian officials, more than 35,000 people participated in the New Delhi event, which was also an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest Yoga classes at a single venue.


The School inducted its Prefectorial Board 2015 in an Investiture Ceremony held on Friday 22nd May,2015. Chief Guest Mr. S.L. Kushwaha, Project Officer, UPSIDC decorated the students with Ties and Badges, speaking on the occassion, he highlighted the contribution of the school in instilling leadership qualities among students. Principal Mrs. Sonia A. Verma shared the efforts and opportunities provided by the school to the students. Parents present felt proud to see their children stay connected to the Vision of Founder Father Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan by singing the first prayer composed in Urdu in 1938. Glory of school was shared by the School Song.

SUMMER CAMP, 18th May,2015 - 30th May,2015

The School organised summer camp for the students of classes Nursery - Vth from 18th May to 23rd May,2015 and classes VI-IX from 25th May to 30th May'2015 to utilize the vacations in a productive way and to make them learn new things.
Children acquired various skills in sports, art and craft, music, instrument, aerobics. They had first-hand learning experience in 3-D painting, tie and dye, spoon craft, newspaper bags, professional techniques of football, cricket and athletics.

Summer camp for Montessori concluded with a visit of parents and a rain dance. And Primary and senior students shared their experiences and learning during the camp.


Inter-Class Shloka Recitation Competition was organized emphasizing on the importance of Sanskrit language in the present Scenario. The participants recited the 'shlokas' melodiously. The Competition was judged by Ms.Kalpana Bhardwaj (Parent), a scholar from the field of Sanskrit and Ms. Namita Agarwal, the Music Teacher of the school. After the Competition, Ms. Kalpana Bhardwaj discussed the use of Sanskrit in technology. The results are as under-

A presentation was given to the the students to develop the feeling of Nationalism among the students and sensitize them towards the present situation of our heritage. The presentation aimed at encouraging the kids to preserve the heritage for the coming generation


New Building of the school was named after ‘Sardar Hardyal Singh’ a Former Trustee Salwan Education Trust on 7th May’2015. The ceremonial inauguration was done by his son Shri Harpal Singh (Mentor and Chairman Emeritus Fortis Healthcare Ltd.) also a Trustee of Salwan Education Trust, in the presence of Hon’e Chairman Emeritus Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan, Hon’ble Chairman Salwan Education Trust, other Trustees , Management Committee Members, Directors and Principals of fourteensister institutions. “Sardar Hardyal Singh was engrained secularist and nationalist who played an active role in improving the conditions of citizens affected by the struggles of 1947 partition. He made significant contribution as Chairman of Salwan Public School, Rajender Nagar and member of Governing Body, Gyan Devi Salwan College.” Principal Mrs. Sonia A. Verma welcome all the Hon’ble members and highlighted the achievements of the school and the inspiration derived from the mentors Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan and Sardar Hardyal Singh. The students of school presented a cultural performance followed by an interactive session with Hon’ble trustees Shri Harpal Singh and Shri Sushil Dutt Salwan. The students got an insight to the life, principles and values of Sardar Hardyal Singh and the Founder father of Schools Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan. The event culminated with plantation of saplings by the family members of Sardar Hardyal Singh.


Debate gives the students creative room to express what they feel. To mark World Press Freedom Day, Debate Competition was organized on the topic "Freedom in Media” leads to good Governance and Empowerment’’ on 2nd May, 2015.The participants, armed with viewpoints and data made their arguments more effective with their facial expressions, body movement and gestures. The present day sedentary lifestyle is giving rise to obesity and other related health problems all over the world. Healthy Habits are formed right from childhood. Taking a step in this direction, an activity ‘’I can Jog’’ was conducted for the Montessori kids in the lush green grounds of school. The activities aimed at increasing children’s strength, flexibility & endurance. Kids played tag and did other vigorous physical activities to make their body fit, promote self-esteem, increase general levels of happiness which can lead to positive social outcomes.

    Stories form an integral part of the lives of students. They help to broaden students’ awareness of different cultures and societies. To inculcate the habit of creative writing, a Story Writing Competition was conducted.
    The children were judged on the basis of their imagination, expression, clarity and accuracy of their writing skills

  • Inter House English Declamation- "Rationing Luxuries – A Future Alternative To Climate Change", Classes IX-X, 22nd April,2015

    With a view to promote the skill of effective Public speaking as a part of team spirit and oratory training, Inter House English Declamation Competition was held. Eight young orators enthusiastically participated. The results are as follows:-

Dr. Montessori truly said, "The land is where our roots are. The children must be taught to feel and live in harmony with the Earth."
Children experienced love and warmth for the mother earth as they were taken for the nature walk in lush green grounds and they felt and admired the beauty of various flower beds, vegetable garden, fruit trees, colourful butterflies, bees, birds & their nests. Children were motivated not to litter on the roads, save electricity & avoid plastic bags.


To encourage composition skills and creative thinking, Media Club Students of the school enacted an advertisement on the theme "School".


To familiarize the students with the simple rules of Phonetics, an interactive session was organized. English Teachers demonstrated how different organs of speech are related with each other to pronounce the words

SUMMER FIESTA, CLASSES NURSERY – KG, 15th – 17th April 2015

With an aim to unleash children’s creative skills through fun filled activities of Art, Dance, Music, Serving and Pouring, Summer Fiesta was organized. Children attained various skills like gross and fine motor development, hand eye coordination etc. They also played with visual images of fruits, vegetables and things which they require to beat the heat of the sun in summer. The focus was on process over product, the joy of discovery and imaginative power.


The school organized Orientation Programme with an aim to acquaint the parents with the school systems, Almanac, Uniform, Curriculum and Planners.

The programme was organised as per the following schedule-

  2. Annual calendar - Month wise planning for school activity and programme in the session
  3. Curriculum planner - Week wise planning of syllabus documented and shared with students and parents.
  4. Worksheet booklets – Guidelines on Subject wise Worksheet booklets shared with the parents.
  5. Publication - Newsletter “RESONANCE” - depicting the activities conducted in 2014-15 was shared.
  6. Scheme of evaluation - Evaluation Scheme to be followed in 2015-16 as per the CCE guidelines upto Class X and CBSE Guidelines for XI & XII
  7. Other Information – To create a comfortable learning environment in the School parents were assured that special care to sidestep Bullying is strictly taken.
  8. Information on fees structures and uniform and transport was also shared.

   The programme culminated with the introduction and interaction of teachers with the parents.
