Leveraging a Legacy...
The Salwan Education Trust (SET) is a name greatly revered in the field of education. SET was established in the year 1941 at Peshawar by Late Pandit Girdhari Lal Salwan, a great patriot who dedicated his life to the service of the nation. A man of exceptional courage and dynamism, he became the Saviour and Messiah for thousands of refugees during the partition of India and Pakistan. Today, 9 educational institutions under the aegis of the Trust are constantly striving for Nation Building with unparalleled zeal. Upholding the vision and philosophy of its founder, Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan, the Trust has established unprecedented landmarks in the field of Education over the last 80 years.
Late Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan, the founder of SET, was born in 1902. He was a great visionary who vowed to impart education to the needy – from all sections of the society – free of cost. He thereby laid the foundation of Salwan Education Trust in 1941.
Through the Salwan Sanatan Dharam High School for Boys and Salwan Sanatan Dharam High School for Girls, which came into being in 1942 in Peshawar, he realized his dream of providing Education for All. The Salwan Boys School (1949), Salwan Girls School (1952), and Salwan Public School (1953) in New Delhi are the result of his commitment towards providing education to the children of resurgent India in the Post- Independence Era. He devoted his life towards the welfare and upliftment of the less fortunate.
A man of great foresight, Pt. G.L. Salwan conceptualized the idea of sharing facilities and resources between Public Schools and the schools for the underprivileged. This beautiful Public-Private Partnership guarantees optimum utilization of resources in the four Salwan Schools at Rajendra Nagar Campus.
Today, 9 schools are being run successfully under the aegis of Salwan Education Trust.
